...in the meanwhile, because we have the right to see clearly into legislation matters, we could go and sign this petition http://www.petitiononline.co.nz/petition/oppose-the-new-zealand-government-food-bill-160-2/1301
Nz is not the only country which is going through this, so I wouldn't completely trust who says that it has been misunderstood. If it has been written improperly, it needs to be seriously reviewed.

These would be good news...I'll be waiting to hear about a newly written food bill then! Thanks Letsgoeco, I'll make a search for this letter on the Organic Nz Magazine. It's important to clarify and give our attention on important matters like this.

I'm reading on line "The Food Bill will turn a fundamental right (to grow and share food) into a government-authorised privilege that can be summarily revoked. Growing food to share, or sharing food, without authorisation..." What does Wwoof Nz think about it? Did you know about it? There is a group on facebook http://www.facebook.com/groups/113052442129836/

General Discussion / How to Link your Forum page to your WWOOF Profile.
« on: August 14, 2011, 02:12:18 pm »
Hi there, I'd like to see a feature on the forum that allows me to connect the people who leave a message on the board to their wwoofer profiles, if they have one. In fact most of the time the information that they leave on the message, are not enough to decide i.e. whether or not starting to travel together! if they have an account, I certainly prefer to check their photos, their experience, their age, etc etc....why don't their names take me to their profiles?

Hi Steph do you have a profile on the wwoof board that I can see?I'm seeking a travel companion too and I've left a message on the forum as well. Fran

Hello, I'm interested in finding like-minded people possibly in the Auckland area to start talking and dreaming about possible community life-style, projects, gathering together, find a place and raise it up in a sustainable way. You'll find all the information about me on my profile https://www.wwoof.co.nz/profile.php?profile_id=34013 I've been wwoofing quite a lot in the past 10 years and I wouldn't mind to be on the other side and became a host myself one day. I'm after talented, energetic, traveled individuals who have a practical mind and see this dream becoming real someway or maybe you are already on that way and you need my help? keep in touch, my email is on my profile too. Fran

yep surely the search function needs to be improved, it's not really useful right now. And the profile picture is important for hosts too, as you like to see our "face" we want to see your! This would tell us a lot about your genre, age and attitude to smile :)

Hi there where are you at the moment? I'm looking for a wwoofer companion too,  I've put a couple of messages on this board if you wanna check them out, mu nickname is Gipsy. I'm in Auckland and I'd love to meet up here first. Let me know. Fran

Ok, then let's focus on the good experiences and on the good people! This is surely a positive approach to attract positive experiences! I've been a wwoofer for about 10 years now, I do still believe this is a good way to live and I hope to become a Host myself very soon, that's why I like to know from both sides. Thanks all for your replies.

well, it's obvious that there is a high percentage of both wwoofers and hosts who don't reply to emails. But it needs to be said that wwoofers are travelers, they have to pay every minute they use Internet, they keep moving from a place to another trying to adjust everyday to a new town or hostel from where they have to make phone calls and upload photos, and they may be wwoofers only occasionally and temporarily, they have to renew and upload profiles in every Country they travel in unless they have planned well in advance from home (they very often get to know about wwoofing once they arrive in the Country by words of mouth). Hosts may be too busy to reply but they run very often business, family and I guess they should be used to a busy life. They have all the time to prepare themselves and their website presence before to choose and be ready to host someone. Maybe we should only contact hosts that are in the hot list, cause if they haven't put a message on the board is most likely because they are not able to host at that moment and therefor they don't even reply.

In my experience, I've had many hosts who didn't reply to my emails. I hardly believe they are so busy they can't find a minute to reply "sorry we are fully booked", "try next month, we are not taking anybody at the mo"...anything that assures me that that email has been received, at least. I'm talking about those hosts that clearly say they prefer to be contacted by email and those ones whose description fits my person quite well. Sometime I wonder if there are some fake messages on the board, but I couldn't figure out a reason to do so. I read lots of wwoofers on the message board having the same problem, they can't make contact with no one! I'm a local wwoofer, so my messages have no expiring dates, I can wwoof anytime and I've been in Nz long enough to say that they didn't reply not even after months!

Seeking WWOOF/Travel companion / Re: WWOOF'ing... Surfing... South Island
« on: January 15, 2011, 09:00:36 pm »
so would you start from Napier? I'm based in Auckland, I've just posted a message on this board. If you for some reason change plans and leave later on send me an email. I'm not a surfer (I wish I was) but I love the beach and the sea so much than I could spend there most of my time. cheers Fran

Seeking WWOOF/Travel companion / wwoofer companion for South Island
« on: January 15, 2011, 08:50:50 pm »
I'm looking for a wwoofer companion to explore the South Island in the coming months, on a very low budget, possibly alternating wwoofing with paid work. I'm after a mature person 25/30+ yo, local, resident or long term traveler, with no limit of time or with a lot of time, who wants to feel part of this Country more than being a tourist. I live in Auckland and I'd love to meet you here first of all. see my profile in the wwoofers listing or send email to fra_nce@yahoo.it
